Ghosts
Ghosts
for Allen Ginsberg
We will meet again
as ghosts you and I
ghosts who don’t grow their
hair or
flash their smiles at
sultry construction
workers
We will meet again
as ghosts
ghosts are always first in
line at Rite Aid
they never get lost on
the subway or
need to
testify before
holy spirit
governments or
eat tortillas made of
teeth.
We will meet again
as ghosts
ghosts savvy in
their skeletal
souls
outsmarting
the
rest of
us who pretend
to be blind on
starry escalators
when the future
gets stuck
between our
toes.
